Restart

Alright...So I had another long pause in my blogging, but I've been considerably busy lately. April and May were very productive, but of course that meant other things were not so productive...ahem.

Anyway, I'm returning to the wonderful city of Indianapolis for a week-long visit. I'm very excited and am really looking forward to seeing family and friends, but also the city itself. Washington DC is awe-inspiring with it's both somber and magnificent monuments, ornate government buildings, and beautiful landscaping. Chicago and New York both have their unique styles that portend power and pride. San Francisco follows it's own tune and doesn't look back. But, I tell ya, there's just something about Indy that I love. The combination of a small town feel with big city amenities, race week [read: month], the mighty Colts, and the hospitality (of which I've noticed a huge difference between DC and Indy). The town is going through a mini-renaissance with condos going up left and right downtown, a new Airport, a new stadium, a new convention center, a new mega hotel, a new central library (albeit slow in the making), and many other things. Prices are still relatively low, people open doors for each other, wave to each other and look each other in the eye. And, as far as I'm concerned, Indy presents a solid opportunity to develop one's views on life, culture and politics.

Now, most of my friends and family have probably heard me say these before, but here are some interesting facts about Indy:
-Indy is the largest city in the world not on a navigable waterway.
-Indy is second only to Washington DC in its number of memorials.
-Half the nation's population is within a day's drive of Indy.
-Indy holds the world's two largest single day sporting events: Indy 500 and The Brickyard.
-Indy has the largest Children's Museum in the world, by every measure.
-Indy has the third largest cemetery in the U.S. (we take care of our dead...)
-Kiwanis (children's aid organization), Eli Lilly, Wellpoint, and The American Legion are headquartered in Indy.

Indy Rocks! And I did try it for a few years...I just need to convince certain people to build certain things in Indy, then I'm golden!
