We Have Spots!

Out of nowhere, three sunspots have suddenly appeared. This is good news, sort of. Although it's a good sign that the sun has shown activity, the spots are actually characteristic of the previous cycle because their polarity is the same as the old one, Number 23. What does this mean? Well, it definitely means that there's much more to learn about our sun, as scientists aren't sure why these spots (A) took so long to appear and (B) why they're not the polarity they're "supposed" to be. There was a recent solar flare detected, and NASA has indicated that the sun could become much more active, which could later interfere with communications, power grids, etc. But, regardless, we want the sun to regain its cycle, because a consistently spotless sun can cause catastrophic effects here on the blue planet.
