First Post

So, I was complaining and ranting to a friend about the current state of affairs with the media, politics, government, etc., when he interrupted me and said, "Kyle, I think you just need to set up a blog so you can get this stuff out". I think he was probably trying to shut me up, but he had a point. So I thought I would give it a good ol' try.

I really spend too much time researching the news and reference websites, but I suppose that it's my hobby. It's just too bad that my hobby happens to annoy me on a regular basis. A lot of the frustration comes from ignorance and political correctness. So, I thought I would give a different perspective on issues of the day. But, even I can get bored with these things from time to time, so I'll post on many other things too, whatever comes to mind.

Before I end this I wanted to give one bit of advice for those who want a good news aggregator; 'www.Drudgereport.com' is a good, easy to use website that provides a wide swath of news from around the world. Although the guy behind it (Matt Drudge) is partisan, his website was actually deemed left-slanted by a UCLA study because he linked to more liberal sites than conservative ones. However, if you factor in his own conservative bias, it makes the website pretty neutral on most things, because he simply links to sites with the original story. There's also very little commentary, if at all. If you rely only on one source for news, then you are definitely not getting the whole story (more like 1%), plus virtually every site has a bias, including the mainstream sources (CNN, Foxnews, NY Times, NBC, etc.)

Until next time...
