Doing Less With More
Well, I've been on vacation for Turkey Day and such, so I've slacked off a bit on blogging. The odd thing is, I have more free time now than I've had in months, yet I'm scouring the news a little less. But, this is just the cycle I go through and I'll soon be back to news, news, news. Luckily, there's not all that much going on right now. But, I'll leave you with this little gem of a story:A British woman had left her family and friends behind to go to Sudan so that she could teach impoverished children. One day she decided to get a teddy bear for the class. She also decided to allow the children to name said bear. Well, the children named it Muhammad and she's now been sentenced to 15 days in prison for "inciting hatred against Islam." East meets West or just stupid?

isn't that crazy?!
Really freaking crazy...
Really REALLY frieaking crazy. Isn't it odd how right now the headlines are about the Catholic League's protest of the Golden Compass? No death threats there... that just just be a simple coincidence.
This was a very simple and very obvious opportunity to see those who would stand up against this kind of religious violence within their own religion to... ya know... actually stand up against it.
The Catholic League is calling for parents to not take their children to see the movie. The Sudanese are calling for this woman's DEATH. This is NOT the same thing. Not even close. To place them on an even plane is to argue that putting an old suffering dog down is the same as pulling the plug on a disabled elderly person. Sure... they are both old and near death... but clearly there are fundamental differences. Same for this situation.
Don't go see the movie DOES NOT EQUAL Kill her!
I ramble onward...
